Honor Society of Women Legionnaires Echelon 31
Greetings Fellow Jeepettes
Here it is the 10th of November and Sunday is Veteran's Day so Happy Veteran's Day to everyone and that means that Thanksgiving is just around the corner and then Christmas isn't far behind; so Happy Holidays to everyone and their families. I want to apoligize for being so late with this newsletterm, but out of the first three weeks in October I was only home for one week. Then the end of September my father, Joe Hadder, of Roswell, NM had a very severe stroke so I went out to be with him, I got back home the 7th of October and he took a turn for the worse that Thursday and wasen't expected to make it through the night, but made it until the 14th of October and was buried on the 16th. I wish to thank everyone for the prayers and the cards that I received.

February 20, 2008 Newsletter
Here it is a New Year and we are already in the month of February and it is almost gone.
I do hope everyone had a Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year and a Happy Valentines Day and now Easter is just around the corner and we are starting a new year with the American Legion. I traveled to New Mexico for Christmas and enjoyed a White Christmas with my step Mom.

If your current card does not read 2008, your dues have not been paid for the year. Please send $20.00 to Aide Janet L. Martin, 15935 Watering Point Drive, San Antonio, Texas 78247.
Welcome to New Members: Linda Reed

National Jeep Newsletter:
an inquiry was made as to why we have not received the National Newsletter. There have been some deaths in the family of the editor. We could possibly receive one this month. We send our sympathies to Editor Cathy Cosgrove.
Mid Winter Meeting: We had a very short but pleasant meeting. Our Sky Pilot Patrickson remembered the flallen women in Irag and Afganistan, this year, from the Ft. Hood are and Glenda Simon sang a beautiful hymn. Our Department Commander Paul Dillard brought greeting and enjoyed some lunch with us.
Sales Table: Needless to say our sales (along with the economy) were down at Mid-Winter. We were restricted to one table so we were unable to show all of our wares. Hopefully we will have two tables for the Department Convention in Corpus Christi. Thanks to Nancy Thomson, Patrickson and husband Eldon, robbie Sharp and Travis Purchis for helping sell. Also thanks to Jo Holloway and Barbara Danks for their large donations. There is still plenty of time for those handcrafted items that you ladies make for our sales table and they will be greatly appreciated.
Womens Memorial, Washington DC: If you are not registered with the memorial, let us know and we will send you a form. Their website: vhm@womensmorial.org
Department Convention and Bivouac: Department Convention will be in Corpus Christi, 25 June to 29 June 2008. Our Bivouac will be Friday , 27 June 2008. Our time has not been confirmed but hopefully will be from 11:00 to 1:00.
Thanks to all for your support.

I traveled to McAllen for Veterans Day. I participated in their dedication of two women veterans statues in honor of WWII Women's Army Corp (WAC) and Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service (WAVES) on Friday (10 Nov 06). The WAC statue was molded after our own Patsy Palmquist. Both of the ladies legs were molded after Patsy Palmquist's legs. MCing the dedication of the two statues was our own Mary Ellen Guay. Patsy Palmquist accepted the WAC statue on behalf of all WWII WACs.
I also participated in their Veteran's Day program on Saturday (11 Nov 06), as did Patsy Palmquist and Mary Ellen Guay. It was such an honor to be invited down to MAllen for the dedication and rememberance. I was happy to see our members there also.
Do you have an email address? If so please provide it to me and I will email the newsletter and save on postage. It will also help if something comes up on short notice.
Thank you to ladies who have given me their email addresses. I really appreciate it.
I hope that everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving. I am going to type in a request ( I
received it in the mail) from our National Twenty and Four on their annual fundraiser. This way I can email it to those that have provided me an email address and they won't miss out of the fun.
